No. Completing USPS Form 1583 does not automatically forward your mail. The form authorizes Traveling Mailbox to receive mail on your behalf. You must separately arrange for senders or USPS to send mail to your new mailbox.
What does Form 1583 do?
Form 1583 and identity verification are part of setting up your mailbox. They establish who is authorized to receive mail through the account. Completing them does not notify your banks, publishers, employer, or other senders of your new mailing address.
For setup instructions, see How do I complete USPS Form 1583?
How do I get my mail sent to Traveling Mailbox?
- Confirm your setup is complete. Finish the form and required verification for the recipients who will receive mail.
- Update your senders. Give them your complete assigned mailing address, including your mailbox number.
- Review USPS forwarding. If eligible, submit a separate Change of Address request using the official USPS forwarding guide.
These steps work together: your mailbox authorization allows us to receive mail, while sender updates and eligible USPS forwarding get it to the right address.
Why is my mailbox still empty after verification?
Your account may be ready even though no mail has arrived yet. Check that your senders have the correct address and that any USPS forwarding request has been approved and has reached its start date. Allow time for delivery and processing.
