To start receiving your existing mail at Traveling Mailbox, complete your mailbox setup and then redirect your mail. You can give your new mailing address directly to senders and, when eligible, submit a USPS Change of Address request.
1. Complete your mailbox setup
Sign in to your online mailbox, complete USPS Form 1583 and the required identity verification, and confirm that your setup is complete. Form 1583 authorizes us to receive mail; it does not redirect mail from your previous address.
2. Copy your complete mailing address
Use the address issued to your account, including your assigned mailbox number. Do not copy an example address from our website or omit the mailbox number. Make sure the names receiving mail are authorized on your account.
3. Submit a USPS change of address, if appropriate
Start with the official USPS forwarding guide. Choose the request type that fits your move, enter your old and new addresses and start date, and complete the USPS identity-verification steps. Follow USPS instructions if an in-person visit is required. Keep your confirmation information for future changes.
If you are moving overseas, arrange your USPS request before leaving the United States and review USPS’s in-person requirements.
4. Update senders directly
Change the mailing address on your subscriptions and other accounts. Direct updates help future mail reach your mailbox without depending on USPS forwarding. Some mail cannot be forwarded, and forwarding periods vary by mail class.
5. Allow time for the transition
USPS currently advises allowing at least 7–10 business days after approval for a change of address to take effect. That is not a guarantee of when your first item will appear in your Traveling Mailbox; mailing, transit, and mailbox processing take additional time.
If mail is not appearing, see Where is my mail?
