Close your previous Traveling Mailbox account after you have confirmed that mail is reaching your new address and dealt with outstanding mail at the original location.
Before you cancel
- Complete your new account setup and the required USPS Form 1583 for each recipient.
- Give your complete new address and mailbox number directly to your senders.
- Confirm mail is arriving in the new account.
- Review physical mail in the previous account and arrange any needed forwarding.
- Save scanned documents you want to retain; they do not automatically transfer to the new account.
There is no fixed overlap period stated in our switching guide. Use actual mail delivery and outstanding items to decide when you are ready.
How to cancel the previous subscription
- Sign in to your online mailbox using a web browser.
- Make sure you are managing the previous account.
- Select Billing, then Subscriptions.
- Cancel that account’s active subscription.
Cancellation is completed on the website, rather than through the mobile apps. Opening a new mailbox does not complete this cancellation step.
Mail received after closure
Traveling Mailbox receives residual mail for up to six months after account closure. During that period, you can sign in and request forwarding. Shipping and handling charges apply. Keep updating senders so mail reaches your new address directly.
